Design Contest Rules
Last updated: 5 November 2026
1. Organiser
The contest is organised by Printed Chess, a trade name of Jonas Van Reeth, Langbaanvelden 69, 2100 Antwerpen, Belgium, VAT BE1008615304, jonas@printedchess.com. Each contest runs on printedchess.com/contest and on our Instagram account @printedchess. The board, the prize and the closing date of the current contest are shown on printedchess.com/contest and in the Instagram post announcing it.
2. Not affiliated with Instagram
This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram or Meta. By entering, you release Instagram and Meta from any liability related to the contest. Questions about the contest go to Printed Chess, not to Instagram.
3. Who can enter
The contest is open to people aged 18 or over who live in Belgium, another EU member state, the United Kingdom, the United States or Canada. Printed Chess and the people who run the contest cannot enter. Entry is free: no purchase is necessary and buying something does not improve your chances.
4. What counts as a valid entry
An entry is valid only if, before the closing date and time shown on printedchess.com/contest, you have done all three of the following: (1) submitted a design through the form on printedchess.com/contest, with your name, email address and your own Instagram handle; (2) follow @printedchess on Instagram; (3) tagged at least one other real Instagram account in a comment under our contest post. We match the Instagram steps to your design by the handle you entered in the form, so use the exact handle you follow and comment with. One entry per person: one design per email address and per Instagram handle. Entries that are incomplete, late, submitted by automated means or through fake or multiple accounts are invalid. Sharing the post in your Story is welcome but never required and does not give extra chances.
5. Designs we may refuse
Your design must be your own work. We may remove an entry, or refuse it as invalid, if it is offensive, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate, or if it contains someone else's logo, trademark, brand or copyrighted artwork. Our decision on this is final.
6. How the winner is drawn
After the contest closes we check every entry against section 4 and draw one winner at random from the valid entries, using a random-picker tool. We record the draw (screenshot or screen recording) and keep that record. The winner is announced on our Instagram account within 7 days of the closing date and is contacted by email. If the winner does not reply within 14 days, or turns out not to meet these rules, we draw a new winner from the remaining valid entries in the same way.
7. The prize
The prize is the one described on printedchess.com/contest and in the Instagram post; it may be made in the winning design. The prize is sent free of charge to an address in one of the countries listed in section 3. It cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to someone else. Any import duties or taxes in the winner's country are the winner's responsibility.
8. Showing your design
By entering, you allow Printed Chess to show your submitted design, together with your Instagram handle, publicly on printedchess.com and on our social media accounts, without payment, during the contest and afterwards. You keep the rights to your design. We will not use your name or email address publicly.
9. Your personal data
We use your name, email address and Instagram handle only to run this contest: to check your entry, run the draw, contact you about your entry and deliver the prize. The legal basis is your participation in the contest. We do not sell your data. After the winner is picked we delete the details and design images of the other entries, and in any case within 12 months after the contest closes; we keep the winner's details for our records and the details of an entry that was turned into an order. Promo emails: the entry form has a separate, optional box "Email me about new boards and offers". Only if you tick it do we email you about new boards and offers, and we then keep your name and email for that until you unsubscribe. Ticking it or not makes no difference to your entry or your chances. Every promo email has an unsubscribe link that stops them in one click. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your data by emailing jonas@printedchess.com; deleting your data before the draw withdraws your entry. See our privacy policy at printedchess.com/privacy for your other rights, including the right to complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
10. Changes and governing law
We may change, pause or cancel a contest if something outside our control prevents it from running fairly, such as fraud or technical failure; we announce this on the contest page and on Instagram. These rules are governed by Belgian law.
